Rochester NW Rotary Meeting notes, June 14, 2023.

Meeting started at 8:30 AM at RIA with Mike, Nick, Paul, Tom Bruce, Ed and Judy.

●    Started with a pledge and a moment of silence, followed by Happy Dollars
●    A  presentation was done by Mike recognizing the connection  “royalty” that  our Club was now enjoying with the presence of Tom Bruce. He was awarded an official
     Rotary Royalty crown
●    Mike gave a brief update on the Tent City proposal. It is moving along – ironing out some details. Our Club was instrumental in getting this proposal supported by the State and         the City and can be active in community input for the commercial and community space.
●    Mike shared that the District Governor will present to the Club on August 9. He proposed that we have an agenda seeking support from other District Clubs for an initiative to curb gun violence. That led to a discussion by Nick and Tom about quality of life issues in the community, namely homelessness and pan handling. Nick spoke of a pro-active approach in Syracuse of picking up homeless folks and giving them a job for pay for the day instead of panhandling. So far it has been successful (link below). These are items that we can present to the District Governor at her visit.
●    Baseball update: Next game is June 15 and we have a full staff. Schedule of the next games were passed around. Future games are not fully staffed. Paul estimates we made $500+.
●    Nick updated us on the Homeless camp , saying that the area grounds will be topped over to secure any possible contamination in the ground. Then the more permanent housing can be installed. Paul suggests that the assembly of the new housing could be a great District project.
●    Membership: Mike has ht contact name for the Charles House /Community Place member, Nicole Seaman. Mike and Paul or Glenn will meet with her before the next Club meeting.
●    Annual change over. Bobbie has agreed to host the party at her palatial waterfront palace on July 12th.   Details to follow; no morning meeting that day.
